A new beginning?

Sew…. what have you all been up to? It has been such a long time since I even looked at my site! I really have been struggling to find sewing inspiration as work has taken over a little. But just recently I have decided to go part-time which has freed me up and I am rediscovering my ‘crafty’ side.

I have also invested in a new sewing machine – and compared to my old Elna, this one positively purrs!


Sew, armed with a new machine and a selection of sewing feet, including one for free embroidery, I decided to enrol on a short course at West Dean College for 3D embroidery. As always, West Dean always puts me in a relaxed frame of mind – great surroundings, good food, fantastic tutors and lovely people. Loved the course and managed to create something I really liked!

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....
