Well, after nearly a week of sewing in the evenings (can’t believe it has taken me so long!), I have finally completed my first Or Nue project. I don’t think it looks too bad, and thought I might try to make a little brooch from it. I think the next time I attempt this type of embroidery – I will use a flatter, thinner embroidery thread as the Japanese gold threads have become a little distorted in places. Anna Scott recommends floss silks on her website, although they can apparently be difficult to work with. But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
I also think that instead of folding the gold thread at each end, I will plunge them. I feel this would give a much neater finish. Now I just need to find out how to turn this sample into a brooch! Any ideas?
