Sew, with one week to go until my first day on the RSN certificate course, I finally received all the information I need to get myself prepared. The first part of the course is in Jacobean Crewel work. I have ordered a couple of the suggested books, scoured the internet and read the brief. I have to say that crewel work would not be my first choice, but to do the silk shading and gold work, I have to complete this module first.
My first task is to think about a suitable design – which apparently needs to contain hillocks, a tree of life with entwining foliage and flowers and an insect, bird or animal. The finished design should be no bigger than A4.
After an extensive search I found a couple of pieces that I really liked….
Unfortunately I am no designer, or artist for that matter – so have found it very hard to design anything of worth. I know what I like – but cannot put it down on paper. I only hope the RSN in more concerned with the quality of stitch-work, rather than design!
Oh well, think I need a lot of help. Role on Saturday – I only hope the tutors know what they are letting themselves in for!!
