Beetle juice…

Back to school means far less time to sew, but I did manage to squeeze a couple of hours in to work on my beetles (well one of them). But time whizzes past so quickly and I seem to have done so little!

I have used pearl purl to outline areas on the abdomen which I plan to fill in with coloured chippings. I will then outline further with a metal twisted thread – once I have ordered it!

Not much for two hours work – but it is always a lovely peaceful way to spend time.

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

    That is some very neat stitching! I can’t wait to see you add your chipping. The whole world of goldwork is quite foreign to me, so I will watch this piece carefully!
