Still Beetling….

I was so disappointed not to have been able to go to the Knitting and Stitching exhibition this weekend – but I just couldn’t spare the 5 hour travel time. Honestly it would be quicker to drive to Cornwall than get to the other side of London! I consoled myself by buying a few extra goldwork supplies – and hopefully someone else will post all the interesting exhibits on line.

As to my own sewing – I am patiently beetling along and have now finished the abdomen and started on the pronotum. I think that I should have made a more definite plan before I started – as I am not quite sure how to infill the area.

About wybrow1966

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

I just love the colours you’ve chosen…very royal!
How is your crewel work coming along? I’ve decided that waiting 6 years until the kids leave home to start the certificate is too long, so I’ve decided to begin next summer on the intensive course. I’m going to order some crewel work kits online to give me some practice as I’ve only really done cross stitch and played around with a few surface embroidery stitches up until now…so I have a lot of work ahead of me! A lot of skimping and saving money too!

Yay! Good for you Jen, I am really enjoying the sewing and my next day of crewel work is on Saturday. You are supposed to finish in 8 days and I will be on day 7 – so I think I will allow myself an extra day of sewing and then mount up my work on day 9. What is life all about if you can’t spend a little time on your passions?

That looks lovely! I really love the colours you have chosen.
I’ll write about my trip to the show as soon as I can recover as much as I can from now dead phone!
