Pea pods

Another break from embroidery and back to the sewing machine. I often forget how much you can achieve in an afternoon when you turn to the sewing machine – as embroidery is so much more time consuming. So today I decided to make a little gift to go into my stitchingsanta parcel. I found a pattern that I downloaded some time ago for little zipper pouches called sweetpea pods and decided to give them a go. Ended up making eight of them!

They are very quick and easy and I managed to use up several little fat quarter squares that I had stashed away – a stash that only ever seems to grow as every time I go into a sewing shop I always find something I like! All I need to do now is finish two tote bags and I think I can go back to the embroidery.

Happy stitching peeps!

About wybrow1966

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

You have sent me down quite the Craftsy rabbit hole! I’ve been looking for a pattern to make something like this, so thank you! Great work for an afternoon!

I’m laughing at you making 8 of the cute little pouches (that’s the sort of thing I do). But yes, sewing produces results so much faster than some other crafts which is brilliant when you want to make a few quick présents.

These little pods look great. I had not come across them before. Was it hard to great the zipper end onto the tape?
