After waiting for a couple of months to get back to the RSN, I was finally booked in last weekend and was so looking forward to putting the finishing touches to my crewel work – before hopefully mounting. Unfortunately (and I blame the little ones at school entirely), I chose this week to be ill! I managed to drive in and spend the morning in class, but as soon as lunch hit – that was it! All I managed to stitch were a few French knots around the head of my bird. Owen demonstrated feather stitch in the tail, which came out immediately as I didn’t like it. Spent the rest of the week moping!
On the plus side I finally got my pass – so now can get into class early and not have to wait to be escorted through the palace. Christmas was also on show at the Palace.
Sorry you haven’t got as much done as you’d hoped. I love the bird though. What stitches have you used across his body? Hope you’re feeling better now
Feeling a little better now – thanks. It was laid work across the body and button hole for the wings. I am going to add some detached fly stitches over the laid work.
Ooh, I look forward to seeing that. I’m gradually learning embroidery stitches, so it’s good to see new ones that I’ve not tried, on other people’s work 😊
hope you’re feeling lots better for the next workshop!
Thank you – maybe in the new year!
I’m sorry to hear you’ve not been well, there’s a lot of different things going around at the moment. I hope you can get back some rhythm in the new year. It does look fabulous though, you are doing a fantastic job!
Thank you Catherine, but you probably know that feeling when you just want to finish something!
All too well Deborah!
I love seeing your updates on this piece, no matter how small 🙂 It looks wonderful! But being sick at this time of year really sucks. I intended stitching over the weekend but didn’t even pick up the needle. The Christmas tree is still very patiently waiting to be put up as well 😧
Finally feeling a little bit more like myself now and Christmas has finally arrived in our house – the tree is up and all my old favourites are now hanging from it! Hope to do a little more stitching over the holidays.
Fancy choosing to be ill this close to Christmas!! Seriously though, there’s so much of it going around – I’m in my third week of yuckiness myself and it’s not much fun when there’s so much to do. The crewel work is looking lovely despite your perceived lack of progress. Fingers crossed that your bug moves on soon and you can get back to normal.
Thank you – am feeling much better now and have turned my sights to finishing my Christmas dress!
