Sew…..how much can you actually complete in a day? Well that all depends on what you are sewing. Over the last couple of days I have been preparing little ‘end of year’ gifts for all my classroom helpers and have made quite a bit of progress. I have also spent a day on my RSN canvas work piece and made slightly less progress!
Canvas work progress…
It has taken me a whole day to complete the vase in Parisienne stitch, the oranges in octagonal Rhodes and an eyelet stitch and the leaves in a modified leaf stitch. I am fairly happy with the vase, but decided to come back to the piece next week, because I am not totally sure about the leaves.
Thank you gifts….
First I made a few more ‘weebrawbags’ by Laura Zuckerkuss , two in Tula Pink fabric and two in ‘Gooseberry’ by Moda fabrics. These are just so quick and easy to make. I plan to fill them with chocolates.
I then modified a wallet pattern (also by Laura Zuckerkuss), so that it could be used as a make up bag for one of my classroom teaching assistant’s. It has two clear pouches and a zipper pouch, plenty of room for all her bits and pieces. Again I used Tula pink fabrics – it was the first time that I have used plastic – and although a little slippy, it was not too difficult to work with.
Finally, I have started to make a little embroidered pouch for my second teaching assistant. The pattern is from Inspirations magazine – which I love to look through. I haven’t got very far yet – but have transferred the design and made a start on the flower stems. I am using a natural linen for the front and back of the pouch, but have not yet decided on the lining.
Sew… here are the fruits of my labours….
Just hope that everyone is happy with a little handmade something….
Have fun and happy sewing….
