The weeks have zoomed by again and with all the pre-Christmas sewing in full swing I haven’t have much time to spend on my Christmas baubles project by Kate Barlow. Luckily I had nearly finished when we last caught up and I am pleased to say that I have now completed the kit. Here is where I was up to last time…..
All I really had to do was to add the chippings to the centre of the pink bauble and a little cutwork to the green bauble. These are my favourite techniques, although getting cutwork to fit neatly into a space can take a little patience. So, here is the finished piece…
Although the piece is finished I do need to find a way of mounting it – I had thought the simplest way would be to use an embroidery hoop but I am not totally sure yet. Open to suggestions.

lovely! I think it loks really pretty in a circular hoop/frame and reckon it would look very pretty hanging on a wall beside the xmas tree this year!
It would be far simpler too if I framed it in the hoop!

I think it looks nice in the embroidery hoop, but you could also frame it with or without the glass.
I must admit I am veering towards the hoop.

It’s beaituful, a stunning piece of embroidery! I think it would look good in a hoop, I bought a painted hoop at the knitting and stitching show with the idea of using it for hoop art.
Yes, I think I am going to go for the hoop – I might put bias or ribbon around the edge first.

The hoop actually looks perfect for this piece. The simplicity of the hoop allows the luxurious look of the baubles to really take centre stage – as they should.
I think most people agree that it should be the hoop!

Well done on the finish! It looks fabulous, you’ve done a great job, very much your style too. I like the idea of finishing it in a hoop. You could bind the outer ring in a matching fabric depending on if you like the wooden look or not.
