Catching up on the canvas work..

It seems like a very long time since I have put any work into my canvas work piece – so this weekend, as I was a little house bound due to having slipped a disc in my back, I decided to try and finish the ladies blue coat. After a lot of indecision I finally decided to use encroaching triple cross stitch – as this would lay quite flat against the horse shape.

I was so pleased with my progress (just hope I won’t be asked to unpick it when I go back to the RSN) that I decided to make a start on the horses head. Here is a look at my progress at the end of the day.

I finally feel as if I am getting somewhere with this piece – but I don’t want to speak too soon.

Hope that you have had an equally productive day stitching….. xxx

About wybrow1966

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

  3. Obviously we don’t know what your tutors are looking for, but it looks good to me, and all the puzzling over it must have kept your mind off your discomfort!

Wow, this looks fantastic! I absolutely love those colours and I’m interested to see what the tutors thought. And I hope your back is better and that a day of stitching didn’t aggrevate it more.

Hi Catherine – did the sewing at home with lots of regular breaks – luckily had already cancelled the RSN due to snow! I don’t think I could have stitched in one place for the whole day. I will have to wait until next week to find out what everyone thinks. Fingers crossed!

  5. Such fine and beautiful stitches. And the colours are amazing. I love the progress. Hope your back is resting and feeling better soon.
    Take care.
