A touch of colour – silk shading day 5

I think that all the sewing has caught up with me a little today – I certainly wasn’t as productive as I had hoped I would be. I added a little more colour to the top of the flower spathe – but that was it really. It is nice to see a little bit of colour – but the areas were small and tricky to sew – especially as the stitch direction also alters.

The next two days are spent working at home and I hope to complete the leaf and a little more of the flower. Two consecutive days working from home is a little worrying as I am new to this technique – so if anything goes wrong on day 1, I will have a whole day to wait before speaking to my tutor. Fingers crossed. xxx

Happy sewing everyone.

About wybrow1966

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

Looking good – the shading must be working as your flower has depth x

  2. I think it is coming together well. When you’re working on your own, you will learn to recognise when you need to rest, because it is very concentrated, but also, you will find that there will be periods when you can see everything that needs to be done, and it all seems surprisingly easy. It’s mildly disconcerting, because it all seems so difficult when you sit down, but thoroughly delightful at the same time!
    Have fun!
