Hi everyone, I have made a little bit of progress in the last three weeks, but it is small as I have been busy getting some Christmas projects finished (sorry if it is too early for some – but if I don’t get a head start, I won’t have anything ready!)
Both wings are now finished and cut out and I am currently buttonholing around the flannel inserts.
As you can probably see the left hand wing has a much better finish around the satin stitch semi circles and the shapes are more defined – maybe I should have practised before I started to sew! A lesson learnt – but I am not going to redo them as I would destroy the tweed layer beneath the stitching.
All the little elements are now completed and I can start to put my little bird together – yay! Then I just have to tackle the base!
Keep safe and well, and more importantly – keep stitching! See you all in another 3 weeks from now.
We are a small group of crafters using a variety of different techniques. Please check out the fabulous stitching by all the other members of the SAL. If you are interested in joining us you can contact Avis for details.

This looks gorgeous and the neatness on the wing I’m sure will be one of those details that only you know about once it’s assembled. I think you’ve done the right thing not worrying too much about it.
Thank you – I do hope so.
Ooo! I can’t wait to see him in all his tweedy glory! Beautiful work and progress!
Thank you Kathy – will put it together soon.
How exciting! Beautiful progress and looking forward to seeing him complete 🙂
Thank you Christina – could be a little while yet!
Wow, it looks fabulous.
Thank you Carole
I love seeing your projects take shape – and this one is no exception.
Thank you Claire
My goodness, that looks intricate!
Keeps me on my toes!
They’re stunning, even before the bird is fledged 🙂
Thank you
Oh dear, I´m so impressed!
Aww, thank you.
I would never have noticed the difference in the satin stitching if you hadn’t pointed it out. Those wings are beautiful. I can’t wait to see the whole piece.
Thank you Cathie, I guess we are our own worst critics.
Oh, how wonderful…it a privilege to see it born gradually!
Hugs, Carmela
Thank you Carmela
Thank you Carmela – I love your piece too and it is progressing well. Unfortunately an error comes up every time I try to post a comment on your page. I will try again later.
I am with you and up to my ears in Christmas projects too. Your wings are gorgeous and I am so excited to see this all come together 🙂
Thank you Sharon – I hope to keep making progress on this piece.
My goodness, what a project! I don’t like to hear about Christmas too early but I do understand that we crafters have to get started well ahead of the event. 😀
I seem to start earlier each year!!
This project is coming along nicely! I don’t think you need to worry about the speed anything happens at this year.
