Canvas coverup…

Another beautiful weekend and another Saturday spent catching up on my canvas piece at Hampton Court. Here is what it looked like last time you saw it…..

Progress before today

Today I made a real effort to finish the horses head, although could not sew too close to the eye as I am about to pull this out and make it much darker (adding another day to the finishing time!). I also managed to make a start on the woman’s face, although I am not too sure if this will stay in either. I chose to use a small cross stitch with a single diagonal stitch over the top.

Here is a look at my canvas now…

And a quick surreptitious look at the sewing room….

Happy sewing everyone.

About wybrow1966

My name is Deborah, and my earliest recollection of being creative is learning how to smock at primary school. We had a wonderful, white-haired lady who came in once a week to teach the 'girls' how to sew. I am not sure what the boys got up to during this time - but I never once felt as though I was missing out on anything. Now, as a primary teacher, I often give up evenings to teach enthusiastic children how to embroider. I am now just about to embarked into the world of blogging. Who knows if anyone will be interested, or if I can even keep it up. But here goes....

  1. It’s often hard to get genuine darks in embroidery wools, and they are so important, aren’t they!

OH that is looking splendid, and you are so right, the eye needs to be darker. I love the texture you are creating!

It’s looking brilliant Deborah! The colours you are using are so bright and wonderful. I hope you are enjoying it.
