Hi everyone! I have made some progress , but it is very minimal. I have just picked up my little blue wren (Kit by Jenny Adin Christie) again and started to work on the tail. Here was where I was up to way back in November…..
And here is where I am up to now….
Ok, I admit it is a very small amount of progress, but to be honest I have spent the last three weeks trying to sew a Cheshire cat costume for World book day. This took me a lot longer than I had expected as you cannot buy pink and purple striped fur fabric – so I had to cut strips of different fur fabric and sew them together before cutting out my pattern! You should see my carpet – I can’t believe how difficult it is to hoover up fake fur!
Thank you for popping in. Happy stitching and I hope to see you all in another 3 weeks.
We are a small group of crafters using a variety of different techniques. Please check out the fabulous stitching by all the other members of the SAL.

such a gorgeous bluebird tail!!!
and love the Cheshire cat outfit ^^
Thank you Claire – I certainly could not be missed in it!
don’t suppose we’ll ever see a photo of you modelling it?
Not a chance!
Wow! Is very wonderful..Great patience…
Hugs, Carmela
Thank you
Well, at least the Cheshire Cat is on a different scale!
And very easy to spot me in any photos!
Bluebird tail is looking lovely. That cheshire cat costume looks fab too.
Thank you Carole – baby steps on the blue bird!
The bluebird tail is a hit – stunning! You went all out on that adorable Cheshire Cat costume ~ adorable!
Thank you Sharon. I do like a bit of colour!
Such a beautiful tail feather, and I second Claire, we need to see you in this costume! That is a doosy!
Hmmm, will have to think about that one!
My thoughts exactly!
I like the vibrant blue of wren’s tail. Fake fur is not easy to work with in any respect in my experience. Hopefully you’ll be able to put that costume to good use (ie: more than once!).
I do hope so.
i have to admire your patience on the Cheshire Cat outfit, which looks great! I would have given up at the “you can’t buy purple and pink striped fur”. The blue wren tail is beautiful. They are such charming birds, and I think yours will be too.
I have to say that I had never heard of a blue wren until I bought this kit. Our wrens are the lovely little brown variety.
Great progress and I love the Cheshire Cat outfit!!!!!!
Thank you!
I think that tail is very pretty. I love the Cheshire Cat costume. Oh my, I can imagine the tangles in the vacuum from the fake fur.
It was horrible!
I imagine hoovering up fake fur is a lot like hoovering Christmas tinsel. I’m still finding shiny bits here and there. But well done you! That costume is amazing and worth the bother for sure. Also just adore how the bird tail is working out. Beautiful work!
Thank you – not sure I will use fur fabric for a very long time now!
The tail is fantastic, and I am always astounded by your work! I love your Cheshire Cat costume! I made something similar, believe it or not, for a half marathon I ran at Disneyland. And I also was AMAZED that you couldn’t buy pink and purple striped fur, and had to make my own, and wow what a mess. You will DEFINITELY stand out on World Book Day!!!
But unfortunately not for all the right reasons! Still the kids thought it was fun!
Your embroidery is lovely. The Cheshire Cat costume is fabulous! The fake fur is a mess to work with, but wow! It looks amazing!
Thank you – the kids didn’t recognise me as the Cheshire cat!
