Hi everyone, as I am now back in school there is less time to sew (not that I had a huge amount- what with all the online learning to post!). But I have made some progress on my little blue wren.
Last time I posted I had just finished the breast area which was worked in sequins and metal work…..
Since then I have turned my attention to the wings which will form little needlecases. A wire casing is sewn around the outside edge of the wing using buttonhole stitch. The scalloped edge is also buttonhole over a larger detached stitch. Satin stitch in two shades of blue – not my neatest! and then the rest of the wing uses goldwork techniques. One wing down and I have made a start of the second now.
Thank you for popping in. Happy stitching and I hope to see you all safe and well in another 3 weeks.
We are a small group of crafters using a variety of different techniques. Please check out the fabulous stitching by all the other members of the SAL. If you are interested in joining us you can contact Avis for details.

Beautiful as always! Great progress too, those wings would be a part I would look forward to!
Thanks Kathy, the scalloped edging was interesting to do.
Wow, this is a lot of intricate work. That wing is beautiful.
Thank you – it is slow progress!
Beautiful wings! I love that they will be little needlecases. How fun!
Thank you Christina.
your little blue bird is coming along wonderfully. I bet it’s a bit of pain having to stitch two wings, and making sure they match.
AAH – do they have to match! Luckily you only see one at a time!
lol
Such a lot of intricate needlework but so worth it!
I do hope so!
Your project is so interesting. It is so beautiful, excited to see the next update on this 🙂
Thank you Sharon. I made a little brown wren and enjoyed it so much I thought he needed a friend!
So beautiful!!!!!
Thank you
Gorgeous! This is going to be so pretty when you’re finished 😍
Thank you Kim, I hope so!
So beautiful, I love seeing how your projects are developing, I’m always amazed! xx
Thank you for your kind words – but honestly, I am just following instructions.
Wow! This is going to be another stunning piece. (I had to show off some of your work to my husband, he found your seahorse quite amazing.) I look forward to seeing your wren when it is complete.
